It's Long and Shiny And Tickled Pink

Well, a while back a nice chap called Andrew asked me if I could make a guitar that would be auctioned at his wedding for Breast Cancer Care, as his wife-to-be had been thru that insidious mill and having come out the other side, it seemed a nice way to give something back.

To set the scene, Andrew let me have some lovely pink-of-ribbon fabric which the guitar will be covered with and quite a long deadline, which immediately means that I never did a lot about it. Nothing, nada and zilch, in fact.

Anyway, I still have a few months, and having pondered it for quite a while have come to the conclusion that I'm going to do a La Cabronita with a ribboned top and probably a stained back over a nice swamp ash body.

I'm thinking of a single pickup jobby - maybe a TV Jones or a Mojo P90 again, with a vinyl record (7") scratchplate and a nice maple neck.

The guitar will be auctioned at Andrew's wedding in February 2013, but if anybody wants to make a 'sealed bid' in advance of that, I'll let you know how once the guitar is made and you can see what you are getting for your hard-earned lucre.

The idea is that people at the wedding will also make sealed bids, and that all will be opened at the same time and a winner declared, as it were.

Before that though, we thought it would be cool to do something unusual with the guitar to hopefully spread the word and maybe even raise a few bob on top of the auction funds.

More on that soon though, as it is going to be pretty cool.

So there we are, we're making what will be a verily cool guitar with a top notch spec, and auctioning it for a charity that will make good use of the dosh.

That will be The Tickled Pink One, muchly lots more about it as we go along.

La la laaaa
