Well, a nice lady from Herpes awoke me this morning with gifts from the frozen North, which proved to be some nice boxes from a chap in Mojoland, called Marc. It even said so on the box.
But what's in there?
Well, top of the list is a lovely TV Jones-sized P90 and Jookilicious wiring loom replete with shiny pink cap, all for The Tickled Pink One. These are the final part of the jiggysaw, so we should be in business next week and ready to travel.
What else?
There is (are) a set of Mojo's stunningly cool Broadcaster pickups for The TV Dinner One too (I already had a loom in stock, as it were, from when I changed my mind sometime ago. I know, I'm normally so decisive.) That too is pretty nigh on there especially as the other parts I had forgotten also arrived this morning, along with the uber triffic ash tray cover.
Is that all?
Well, no. No it isn't, as finally, there is a nice loom to go with the Gretsch 'bucker I haven't laid hands on yet, for The Confused One. That might take a little while longer, but such is life.
As for The Fallen One, well short of resoldering all the connections (which I can't do at the mo) I am stumped as to what is wrong, so that is going back to Mojoland when I get a chance as Marc is being cool on that score too and putting right whatever I managed to bugger up in the first place.
So all in all a big massive leap forward in the direction of finished Jookies. We could be flooded with them next week, which around here would make a change from being flooded with raw sewage and Third Division footballers..

Long For The Final Fur
Well, today proved to be a bit of a squib with rising damp. I finished everything on The Fallen One and it truly looks uber cool, but somehow managed to break it so now it gives a selection of battery-failing-fuzz noises and not a lot else.
Initial investigation was fruitless and I have a headache so it will have to wait for another day. I'm a little gutted in truth and had to console myself by playing my Jazzmaster, The Resurrected One and #2 brats Lightning Dragon, which I seem to play more than anything else at the moment. Maybe I am ready to try a Jaguar again.
As for other things, well I put the tuners on both The TV Dinner and Confused Ones and nailed their necks into place, so they are as done as they can be, and The Tickled Pink One is similarly spoodled. Just a case of waiting for the pickup and wiring deliveries and we'll be in clover.
Oh, I made a rear cavity cover for The Tickler out of a sandwich box, so that is see-thru and usefully has recycling and do-not-dishwash marks on it, which could save some disappointment along the way. I might have to make a stronger one to go with it as it is a bit floppy, but you'll be able to see Mr Mojo's Pink Cap shining thru so that is cool.
Not a sentence I ever expected to be writing.
There was something else I just can't remember what

WIP: The Fallen One
Well, it has been a (truly very muchly) long time-a-coming, but I spent a few precious moments with The Fallen One last night, and it is pretty darn tootingly close to being a guitar.
Few things left to sort out, but nowt drastic, more annoying, like trying to remove one of the tremolo screws where the top sheared off, and bolting the neck on, strap pins, string trees and finding some screws the right size to hold the pickups on. That sort of bobbins.
So from the top it is now....
1. Swamp ash body, stained dark oak and finished with hard wax oil - verily touchy and feely it be too.
2. A lovely lefty Jazzmaster neck, apparently made by some American luthier, but either way it is really nice.
3. Lefty Kluson tuners
4. Mustang bridge,
5. Jazzmaster tremolo
6. Corroded copper 'plate
7. A Pair of Mojo Jazzmaster pups, which if they are anything like (and they will be) the ones in my MIJ will be stunningly cool
8. A Mojo loom using all the old familiar things like the right pots, switches, wire and PIO caps (which iirc are Jooky branded, bless him)
And that be about it. I may even finish it today, though The Tickled Pink One is top of the list obviously..

WIP: The TV Dinner One
Well, things moved along, if not to plan then at leastforwardlyish.
The TV Dinner One made the most progress in the end, with the 'plate bolted on and the control plate all sorted out too. That is looking mighty fine in a traditional Tele kinda way. Apart from fitting the tuners, when the pickups and wiring come we'll be there on that.
I'm loving the look of the walnut body and it feels proper even as it stands, and as I'd forgotten that the loom has solid of shaft pots and got the wrong knobs, but after a quick visit to Axesrus with a bit of luck the knobs will arrive tomorrow, and I slipped in a wee ash tray cover just for good measure. It's gonna be a good 'un, I can feel it in me water.
As for The Tickled Pink One, well tuners are on, neck is drilled and again it is just a case of adding a smidge of the leccy stuff and we'll be there in clover. Must do the rear cavity cover though, forgot about that.
Elsewhere, The Fallen One is drying and will be ready to go together in the next day or two and The Confused One now has a neck to boast of.
Will anything get finished tomorrow? I hope so, but we'll see, and to be fair if the brat is school bound I'll probably be playing with the router anywaysup.

Have Marigold, Ready To Ream
Well, Day 4 of the bratski-infestation of Jookyland, so me and the sidekick are on a mission to try and get The Tickled Pink One sorted out, along with shooing a couple of the other stalwarts of the Coming Soon list in the right direction.
I can't face getting beaten at any more board games, I have to be honest.
So, for the Tickler, today Team Jook will be doing:
1. Fit tuners. I went in the end for a set of Wilkinson pre-aged nickel covered ones, as they are solid and predictable in a good way. I need to ream out the 6mm holes so that the 10mm tuners will peep thru, so that is the place to start. A single Marigold glove is of course essential.
2. I realised last night that I had neglected to fashion (turn to the left) a rear cavity cover (turn to the right), so I'll also be doing that. I'm going to see whether I can make a see thru one out of an 'old' (as in not mine) CD case, so that Mr Mojo's fluro-pink capacitor can be seen more easily. If that proves not to be viable, I'll make one out of a record to match the 'plate, I expect.
3. Fit the neck. I need to drill it to match the body and get it joined at the hip. I'll put a couple of strings on even without the pickups so I can get the angle of the jangle sorted out for a decent action.
4. String Trees. I went for a modern version, well, modernish.
5. If Herpes deliver them today, I'll hopefully get the pickups and loom in. Similarly, if the posty arrives with the electrosocket thing, I'll bang that one home too.
And that is about that. So post of different shades permitting, I'm hoping to have The Tickled Pink One playable by the weekend, which would be nice, has to be said.
Other than the Pinkster, I'll be finishing The Fallen One's body in hard wax, and similarly coating the pickguard for The TV Dinner One.
Get me, eh? Mr Productivity.
So all-in-all, it could be a busy day, but hopefully there be light at tunnels end.
Of course, I may just fall asleep. If she lets me.

Love, Love, Love....
Well, a first instalment of parts arrived today, so other than staining the Fallen, I managed to put strap pins and bridges on to the others (remembering to drill ground wire holes handraulically), and an Esquire plate on The Confused One - think I'll leave that as plain black - and I have started to smother the 'plate for The TV Dinner One in bronze, with copper and acid to follow.
Got spanked on Scalextric by the six-year-old though, so it wasn't all good.
As far as The Tickled Pink One goes, I made holes in the Fab 4 scratchplate with an old soldering iron, chopped off the excess melted placcy stuff with a Stanley knife, and then screwed it to the body with old and rusty screws.
Somebody asked me whether I would be playing safe with the Tickled Pink One, so I think I probably am. I haven't even thought about setting it alight yet.
Though....nah. better not.
Anyway, I followed this with a nice circle of rusty screws all around the body as, well, I liked the idea and I'm pleased with how it turned out. Tis all good.
And that is about as far as I can go right now. I did forget a bridge for The Confused One, so I need to sort that out, and I'm still waiting for control plates, electrosockets and a few other bits, but they should be here tomorrow, as will the pickups and wiring from Marcy Mojo.
Another quick thank you, firstly to Marc at Mojo who has donated the pickup and loom for The Tickled Pink One, and to ESBlonde from Music Radar-land, who sent me some strings to go with the guitar on it's travels and £20 which has already hit the Just Giving page. It is really cool how many people are chipping in, in lots of ways, and long may it last. This is before there even is a guitar or we've started to get it moving around the country.
But there we go, the brat will be back at school the 'morrow, so hopefully I'll get tuners installed along with string trees and necks connecting to bodies. Oh, and I need to finish the finish on The Fallen One, that is pretty and cool too.

I've Fallen For A New Body
Fallen For A New Body |
And as the router isn't likely to get much use in the nearest future, I decided to do something radical and use this for The Fallen One instead. The other one will no doubt find a home later on.
Makes a change it is normally every other part of the guitar that I change my mind over.
Anyway, I should at least be able to do something with that today, so I am thinking that I will dark stain it as per the original idea, and there we are. Electrik yet Kool.
One slight needle is that the bridge I have doesn't fit, and daft though it seems I hadn't really looked closely at it before as I was having to drill the hole for it - whilst on the new body it is already done.
But for another bridge, not this one. If that makes any kinda of sense.
And Lift |
Other than that, I have all the parts to hand for once so with a bit of elbow grease we should be in business and if I'm done before the bridge turns up I can always nick the one off my Jazzmaster. OK, maybe not, I'd only end-up selling it as a project after months of not remembering to replace it.
I'm really looking forward to getting this one finished as it is the first Jooky with a proper Jazzmaster Trem and there is still nothing to match a Jazzmaster in this boy's affections.
Plus I now have another Jazzmaster body, which makes me feel good about the world.
As for other things, well there were no shiny new parts in the post yesterday so hopefully I'll be ticking pinkly today instead. I am in Half full cuppa mode, clearly.
+++ Music Free Interludish Time +++
Well, as you can hopefully see, before I finished writing I couldn't help but nip out into the damp cold frozen zone and get going with the Dark Oak stain. And jolly nice it looks too...lovely.

Tears Dripping On The Horizon
Well, this sick-kid thing seems likely to be going on for a while, so the new router is going to have to stay in it's placcy case for a while yet, which is a shame as the plans I have.
*sigh*
I'm all enthused about The Pearly Dewdrop One again, for a start. This has always been going to be my Vox Teardrop tribute, with the right shape body, but a single P90 at the bridge and a CBSish big headed Strat neck.
I've said before that I've always loved the look of the Teardrop, but never played one that sounded (to me) very good, so it makes sense, as far as anything I do does.
So far due to a lots of reasons, it remains a dream. But maybe not for too long mucher.
Still tis better to think about what I can do, and with a bit of luck my parts bonanza will start to explode locally today and I can start pulling The Tickled Pink One together again.
Incidentally, thanks to Liam for the donation to the cause. it is all building up quite nicely methinks.
Until then though, I'm tweaking the finishes of both The TV Dinner and Confused Ones, doing some fret shining on The Fallen One and generally tarting around in between providing doses of Calprofen and tip tops.
Oh a Mother's work, tis never truly ever really finito'd

Hello Playmates or The Kindness of Strangers
Well, sick kid stopped play today so I did a bit of the messy stuff that keeps this Jooky bandwagon (Arthur Askey, where are you now? Oh, a quick Google tells me he is dead. Oops) trundling along.
So a big massive large collection of parts are on the way and as Mr Mojo tells me a multitude of pickups and looms will be with me soon (he is using a courier called Herpes, which is a little irritating) well, I'm fast running out of excuses and am in serious danger of having to do something.
Other than that I had two nice surprises today, firstly the new router arrived and seems to work a little better. It plunges instead of plummets and just generally seems a little more predictable, which is a welcome change in my life, as it may well extend it somewhat.
The second was that an anonymous benefactor has given us a nice new hardcase for The Tickled Pink One to travel the highways and low-ways in. Which was a fine and noble great cool thing to do and is very much appreciated. The Pink Ribbon Around The UK thing is looking healthy too as more people keep on joining in, which is grand.
So plague-allowing, I will hopefully start to finish the finishing of a goodly selection of guitars in the very nearest..
Tomorrow is another day, after all. Well, unless you are Arthur Askey.

Getting Confused
Well, trying to tie a Tickled Pink Ribbon around the country seems to be starting well, with 18 people signing up at the last count, though I'm glad young Jools is doing the organisational honours on that one.
Me, I prefer a simpler life so I'm going to stick to screwing up guitars instead.
If however, you fancy a strum for a good cause, you can find out more HERE.
And speaking of which, The Tickled Pink One is awaiting the last few pieces of the jiggyandsore, so I turned my eyes onto The Confused One and finished the bodywork on that baby, and I'm pretty chuffed with how the rustiness has turned out. I tried a different way of finishing this to how I've done them in the past and it has retained more of the orangeness, which is nice. It looks quite cloudy in fact.
I've realised I haven't actually got a neck for this one, so that is something to sort out this week.
As for other things, I've still got a bit of work to do on the finish for The TV Dinner One, which sick bratskis apart might well get done today.
But other than that, self-same-sick-bratski stops general play today, which makes a hnge fom the rain methinks.

The Tickled Pink Ribbon Relay
Well, I said we were going to try and do something a little extra as far as The Tickled Pink One goes, and it is game-on in that department over on the Music Radar Forum.
What a nice chap called Jules is organising over there (and you can read all about it by Clicking Here) is an Olympic Torch Style Relay where The Tickled Pink One gets passed from guitarist to another guitarist and hopefully makes it's merry way around the country, before arriving to be auctioned in February next year. I can't say I envy him the organisational task, but there are people signing up already so he is stuck with it now.
How this will hopefully raise a few bob is that everybody involved will donate a tenner or more to the Tickled Pink One Just Giving page Here. If you have already donated, you're in, of course. Just get in touch via the Music Radar Thread.
As for the auction, we'll be accepting sealed bids for the guitar that will be opened in February, but more on that later.
So if you fancy joining in, and better still you can gig the guitar or make a video or recording with it and generally 'add to the legend', all will be good and groovy.
Extra points if you can get it into the press or onto MTV or maybe Blue Peter, of course (well, a boy can dream).
Better still, if your next door neighbour is Johnny Marr, Slash, Eric Clapton or Pete Townsend and you can get a foto of them playing the guitar that would be lovely.
Actually, maybe not Pete Townsend, in the interests of keeping it in one piece.
Famous faces apart, we'll be showing fotos of everybody that gets involved as we go, so think of somewhere interesting to play it if you get the chance, or at least put some clothes on (I'm nicking Jools' best lines now, sorry mate.)
Given logistics, I'm guessing that not everybody who volunteers will actually be involved, so sooner you join up the better I expect.
So once more for luck, why not go Here and read all about it :o)
I don't normally ask this, but if you wouldn't mind forwarding on this lovely message to anybody that may be interested it would be lovely like.
Anyway, I think I'd err, better finish the guitar (ahem)

Getting Closer: The Tickled Pink One
The ageing varnish has set and I must admit I'm rather pleased with how the thing is looking.
The mahogany stained ash body is pretty swish and I've spoodled and a polished the frets and neck, so all is good to go once the tuners and pickup/wiring from Marc arrive next week.
Young Marc at Mojo has sent me a foto of the pickup (TV Jones sized P90 - nice) along with a one-of-a-lifetime bright pink Tickled Pink Jooky Cap, which is rather cool even if nobody sees it.
But we'll know it is there, won't we?
Hopefully everything will be together and strummable in the next week or so...lovely.

WIP: The Tickled Pink One
Well, as I don't do this very much these days, I thought I'd do a little photostory of fabricificating the top of The Tickled Pink One.
First thing first, I've sanded the top sooper flat smooth and have put some gloopy glue on.
Smells divine.
This is a type of PVA but full fat, not the lightweight stuff you peel off your fingers at school. This is a man's glue.
(Obviously I do have hours of fun peeling my fingerprints off afterwards).
Thirdly, I've roughly chopped out a lump of the fabric Andrew supplied and lay it on top. This I smooth with one of the credit cards they won't let me use anymore, bless them.
As the background is white, I'm hoping for a striped PJs effect, with the lovely ash grain showing thru.
Not sure if it will come off yet, mind.
Fourthly, I plaster on some grain filler and again use a card to get it in there proper deep like.
Can you see what it is yet?
I've sanded that back and started in with some more gubbins that turns it all a bit plasticky and hard of hearing.
I said hardwearing.
You deaf or something?
Anyway, there are a few coats of this.
Sixthly, as I was getting bored I cut out a scratchplate to sneakily hide the unused cavity. I wanted this to look a little wobbly and it has come off... Man I can do wobbly.
Seventhly, using a very sharp knife (I couldn't find an adult to do this for me) I trimmed around the edges and cut out the bridge pickup cavity. As I'm not using the neck cavity thing, I'll leave that under cover as it were.
Finally, now we're sooper cool and groovy, it will get a few coats of lacquer. Firstly acrylic, and then a final dollop dab of nitro just to help it age nicely.
And there we are.
From here it is all about putting it together.
Mr Mojo's magic pickup and wiring loom should be here next week sometime and I think the only thing I'm missing right now are tuners which should arrive tomorrow.
Oh and strap pins. I always forget the strap pins.
With a bit of luck we should have it in business in a week or so.
lovely

Feeling The Tickle Moves Me
The Tickled Pink One Around The Back Earlier Today |
Yesterday's hard waxing went well, and a flourish with a donnyful of wire wool took the shiny shiny down to smooth 'n' sheeny, and it looks all the better for it. I'll have a blast with some beeswax later, I expect, but I'm pleased. Tis all good.
From there I'm flipping over and starting the top in all it's pretty fabricness. It is a while since I've done fabric (man) so I'm quite looking forwardly to it.
As that involves lots of spasms of effort followed by time-a-wandering, I'll probably fit in a little staining of the back of The TV Dinner One, but that is just as and when I think. I might even cut the pickguard out of Lenin and McCarthy
As for other news, my new router offish arrives tomorrow, which is good in a safety kinda way but bad in the nothing-to-blame-for-not-chopping-wood department. It has turned into a bit of an obsession and I feel I have to earn the right in some way.
But to the grain filler Batman

Death Defying Routering
Well, not a lot happening today - I waxed the three guitars and then gave them another coat, so that should dry overnight and I can get the other sides done tomorrow. Which will be nice.
I also gave some frets some shininess and oiled the 'board of The Tickled Pink One, so they are ready to rock 'n' roll, baby.
After that I thought I'd have a praccy with the router again, but it seems that not only do the sharp bits randomly fly off at times, but the tightening arm bit that lets you set the depth is also a bit likely to slowly ease things deep and down. Worse I didn't notice, so the neck pocket is a wee bit deeper than intended, by a couple of centimetres (ahem). Luckily it was on a scrap body I wasn't planning to use anyway, but I really hope that the new router comes soon. This one is a bit of a liability methinks. (I know I should have noticed but I was more bothered about staying out of eye line of the bit when it went flying again.
Anyway, such is life.

Waxing Literally
Well, today is a bit-more-of-the-same in so far as I'm still trying to move The TV Dinner, Confused and Tickled Pink Ones in a forwardly synchronised direction.
As you can hopefully tell from the foto, I now have three bodies where the back (and the front of TV) have all been stained and now treated with a goodly coating of Hard Wax Oil. That will sit around for four hours before I can do another coat, which is OK. I need beauty sleep.
Once that is done - tomorrow hopefully all will be dry, I'll stain the TV, throw acid in the face of the Confused and generally pamper with fine fabrics the Tickled Pink. I told you I was intent on starting my own religion.
As for today, while those babies are drying, I have a couple of necks that needs a tad of fret-love, and in the case of the rosewood one a good dollop of oil too. So that should keep me out of trouble.
Probably

WIP: Well, Allsorts, Really
Well, I thought it was about time I actually did something around here, so it has been a bit of a blur of super speedy quick motion today.
First up, I chopped some wood out of The Confused One so that I can use a normal Tele control plate.
I felt well grown-up, I can tell you.
I really must buy some wood filler.
From there I sanded all three bodies (The Tickled Pink, Confused and TV Dinner Ones I'm talking about, I forgot to mention that part) until they were silky and smooth.
The bashed, chipped and grazed part come laters.
Then the back and sides of The Confused and Tickled Pink Ones got stained with a Dark and Deep Mahogany, well, stain, I guess, while The TV Dinner One got top and sides done with Indian Rosewood.
No fotos as they are in the dark dungeon that is my garage drying until tomorrow.
From there I am going to wax oil everything that has been stained, with sanding in amongst it all too. Unless I need to put more stain on, forgot that bit.
From there, the back of The TV Dinner One will be stained, whilst the The Tickled Pink one is destined for pinkness and The Confused One is going more metallic and acid-fried in their top regions.
So their paths diverge, as it were.
I also managed to confuse meself somewhat about pickups and wiring, but I got there with a leetle help from my friends.
One good thing, the record that will be the pickguard for The Tickled Pink One arrived - All You Need Is Love, think I mentioned it would be - as did a couple more Tele necks which need an oil and a polish and a touch of the old file along the edges, but are otherwise verily nice.
Yes, if this feels a bit manic, it is because I am today for some reason.

Bodies Piled High
Well, no post at all today, but I did dig out the bodies for The Tickled Pink and TV Dinner Ones, and tomorrow sees them as well as The Confused One getting a bit of body work done.
The Tickled Pink is of course destined for a pink-of-ribboned top, but the back and sides are going to be dark stained and waxed, so that is numero uno on the list.
Similarly, The Confused One which needs a bit of sanding first, will be a darker hue to show off the top which is going to be groovily acid fried. Obviously I still haven't carved out the control plate hole yet, but will before I do anything much else.
As for The TV Dinner One, that is destined for a rosewood stain which looks good on walnut, clearly, though I doubt that will be the end of it's travails, as nothing in the Teensy Kingdom of Jook is ever so simple.
So that is for tomorrow, and hopefully necks will also be apparent.
I seem to be on a bit of a Tele binge at the moment, not really sure why, but there we are.

Painting Confusing Rainbows
Well, sometimes I just want to get away from all the high powered shenanigans that go with running an internationally renowned conglomerate like Jooky Corpse Industries Inc Plc and I decide to just break the mould (mold?) and do-something-more-interesting instead.
And as I have the forlornly knackered body from The B Movie One sat in a corner, I thought that I should do it the fave of a little resuscitation and rampant enviro-politik..
And as it happens I have a Gretsch pickup going begging, and even a spare Tele neck that I bought for something and then forgot about, so 1 + 1 + 1 = 4 in any lingo, so what is a poor boy to do?
Anyway, I thought that if I cut out a hole for a Tele Control plate, put a nice Esquire pickguard on, the nice single Filter'tron at the bridge, Fanny would be my Uncle and Bob, well, Bob as ever is confused.
I'll call it The Confused One in his honour

TV Dinering
Mojo Broadcasters...yum |
Other than that I've snaffled a lovely Walnut Tele body, that is going to provide the kernel of The TV Dinner One. I haven't done a proper two pickup Tele for a while and as I also managed to snaffle a rather nice maple/maple neck, it seems predestined and all that.
As for the pickups, I'm going to get a set of Mr Mojo's finest broadcasters as they are officially my Fave-Tele-pickups-in-the-world-ever, and there we be. Not quite sure about the finish yet, but that's detail dahlink, I'm more of your conceptualistically fascinated kinda guy, dontchaknow.
As for today, well I guess I'd better post the Fat-Old-Man his T-Shirt, had I not? And then, well, who can possibly say?

All You Need Is Lurve
Well, it was good to get The Resurrected One finitoed, not least because it sounds and plays so blinkin' good. Buoyed-up I even had another go with the router in preparation of so much more, but something snapped which I'm starting to think is fatal, so I'm back to waiting for my new one to arrive.
So in the meantime, I've been looking around and it seems to me that I really should get on with The Tickled Pink One next week as basically, everything else on the wishlist is awaiting parts.
As I keep changing my mind, I'm going to get definitive.
No, I am.
So, it is a lovely swamp ashed body of the La Cabronita ilky persuasion.
Neck is a nice maple/rosewood Tele jobby, with tuners of some type I haven't decided on yet. I'm thinking Gotoh though or maybe err, something else. We'll see when we get there..
The body will be dark stained back and sides, and maybe top too, who knows.
The top however will feature a lovely bit of pink ribboned fabric, with a pickguard made from a Beatles record, 'All You Need Is Love' which as it is Andrew and his future Missus' first dance seems fitting in lots of ways for this guitar.
Marcy Mojo is making me something special in the pickup department, we're going for a single something at the bridge with wiring from the chappy too.
As for the bridge, it'll be a fixed one obviously, thru-body-stringing and that is about that.
All good stuff indeed.
Just the teensy matter of getting my arse in gear to do something.
Cheers are due to Mr Gorman himself for the donation to the Tickled Pink charity bobbins, and for generally mushing the whole place up. I didn't even realise I'd eaten sweetcorn never mind carrots.
Gammon indeedy.

Sold: The Resurrected One
The Resurrected One is a Jookified version of Fender’s La Carbronita Especial, with a number of quirks we like to call our own. We love Teles in Jookyland and the La Cabronita is something that has long caught our eye, so when the chance to do one came along we didn’t need much persuading.
The body of The Resurrected One is made from swamp ash, and we quite simply couldn’t bring ourselves to cover up such a beautiful piece of wood. Instead we did our best to bring the grain out with a hand applied dark oak stain and many coats of a hard wax oil. This makes for a stunning finish we’re all rather chuffed with.
From there we added a pickguard, which we’d chopped from an old Jimmy Reed record, and matched the body with a lovely maple/maple neck with old school Klusonesque tuners.
As for the sounds, well, TV Jones in La Cabs have of course been done before and we wanted something a little raunchier, dirtier and generally likely to be found on the seedier side of the street. But they are an odd size, and so we talked to Marc Ransley at Mojo Pickups, and he agreed to custom wind us a set of his stunning P90 pickups, cut to shape and then went above and beyond the call and turned-up with a set than are quite simply breath-taxingly cool.
Additionally, Marc put together a top notch wiring loom to get the best out of them.
This is probably – definitely – the most understated Jooky yet, and will never be repeated.
*
To be clear, The Resurrected One is an utterly unique guitar, and there will never, ever, be another made. It is signed and numbered, entirely hand built and finished cooler than a slo-mo run across the pebbled beach at Portishead. There will genuinely never be another guitar like this and past experience suggests that it won’t be around for long.

Introducing: The Resurrected One
Well, I'm pleased to introduce you to the latest Jooktastic plank, The Resurrected One, which I'm rather chuffed-to-bits with, has to be said.
For the regular viewer (you know who you are in your scabby Y-fronts, eating take aways out of tin trays) it is a kinda response to the wanton destruction of my lovely The B Movie One, in so far as I've re-used Mr Mojo's stunning TV Jones-sized P90s and wiring, and the scratchplate I chopped out of an old record. Think that is about it though.
But the guitar, and it is clearly based on a Fender la Cabronita - probably the coolest thing they've come out with in decades.
The body is a lovely chunk of swamp ash, that has been hand stained (I have the perma-tanned palms to prove it) before getting a good dose of hard wax oil, which is sheeny and beautiful.
The neck is maple/rosewood and tuners at the top are Wilkinson's take on the classic Klusons, but with the sneaky EZ-Lock double holes for super speedy string changes without the usual acupuncture (unless that is just me and Klusons).
Pickups are as I mentioned, Mojo P90s, it is a hard tailed bridge, strung thru for maximum sustainingness and I even remembered the strap pins and right chunky monkeys they are too.
As for sounds, well the pickups nail the sexy raunch of a P90 to a tee - how the boy keeps coming up with pickups this good, I really don't know, but I'm going to keep buying them until he turns into an Asian factory and loses it, like all the others before. Actually, can't see him doing that tbh.
So there we are, my lovely monster and I'm off to get a nice Hiscox case for it before it goes anywhere near a courier.
