Falling In Lurve Again

Well, the postie let me down with parts yesterday, but hopefully today will be the day that boxes flow thru the letterbox (I have a big, rather damp, letterbox) and I can get a few things finished.

One bit of good news was that Marcy Mojo has diagnosed the noisy Jazzmaster problem - and yep. I had done something daft, and hadn't quite cleaned some of the copper paint away from the switch hole. I feel rather guilty about that, kinda dumb - dodgy painting stops play, as it were.

Still, when that comes back The Fallen One will be good to go, which is rather nicely triffic, methinks.

As for what to do today, well I'm having a plot about things at the moment so I need to do some research and number crunches and other exercises.

Other than that I'll be playing Old Honey, I think as I have been neglecting it recently.

Until the postlady knocks twice (the bell needs new batteries), anyway.

Mr Postie

I'm not sure about yours, but we've got a new postie and amazingly - after a decade of it not being the case - things seem to turn up a lot quicker.

Don't know why that is.

Apart from the fact that the old one may have been a thieving get.

Anyway, some pickups I'd 'sourced' for the Psychedelic Surf One have shown up along with all the other leccy gubbins from Axetec who as ever are utterly predictable and excellent.

Which is handy as tomorrow morning I'm going to put it all together,
hopefully.

I even went for a Sprague Orange Drop capacitor - without knowing what the difference is meant to be. I mean, I'm sure it will prove to be amazing, but like Bumble Bees, I can smell a bit of marketing in the air.

Saying that, I also went for a good, solid, Les Paul type of switch and a Neutrik jack socket and generally top notch parts all over the place. The difference between cheap and good is so small it seems daft not to, even if the real difference in performance may prove to be negligible.

Oh, the pickups I got are IronGear P90s - the full sized ones - Platinum I think they are called.
Everybody raves about IronGear, so it will be nice to find out how good they are myself. If they prove to be shonky I will no doubt start looking for something else, but fingers crissed, eh?

Speaking of the post, I also got some Tokai PAF pickups which will find their way into a Les Paul project I'm hoping to start soon, though I'll probably try them in something else first - The Glistery One for instance - to see how they go.

Anyway, I'm verily boring today, but there will be more fotos tomorrow with a tad of the lucky stuff.

Another One Bites The Dust

Well, The Gonzo Gonzalez One didn't hang around. As I said, I have been a bizzy little chap this weekend, and Gonzo was one of the products of my labours, as it were. The rest I'll show you tomorrow or later anyway.

But Gonzo is done and gone now, gord bless him, destined to sit under a tree for a few days and hopefully bring a little cheer in the New Year.

It made me realise that I've not talked about our 'Trademark Jooky Wrapping' before now, so I guess this is as good a moment as any.

(I know I should probably claim that somebody has asked, but the truth of the matter is that nobody has, I just feel like telling you about it. Not the most interesting topic, to be honest, but there we are. It is snowing outside though, which is probably of more exciting relevence.)

But the wrapping. Well, as the foto on the left or right, depending on your perspective shows, we like to wrap our amps the old fashioned way. A nice bit of brown paper (bonded, I like a bit of bonding), with this being tied using good olde worlde twine or string or whatever you call it. With the finishing touch being a nice olde fasioned-e tag or label or whatever they are called.

You know,
the brown paper ones that you tie on with yet more string.

Why do we do this?
Well, I like how they look to be honest, and it does seem fitting that all of this filth be delivered in a plain covering.

Oh, and although nobody has asked this either, no, we don't post things out with no more protection than a few microns of brown paper, the brown paper wrapped parcel is put into something stronger that will hopefully help it survive being the football in a variety of sorting offices across the land.

And before an imaginary postie gets in touch and starts an argument I'll have to wage on the pages of this site/blog thing, I know you play football with the parcels as I used to work in a sorting office
so get lost gitski.

I think I'll go and watch the snow a while
Much calmer
