Coop Flown

Going to be sad to see the back of Betty
Well, it seems I am Jookiless again, with both The Fabulous and Betty Blue Ones off independently to nice new homes in Austria.

The Fabulous One is trailing a blaze immediately, with young Betty following on in a couple of weeks, once she has her affairs in order.

Trying to play the grown-up, they are both in the midst of being suffocated with gaffa tape, so I don't get tempted to dilly and dally, as it were.

And today is the first anniversary proper of when I took The Golden Shower One for a bit of fretwork to my local tech. I shall be making the ceremonial call at 1.35pm which is exactly the time I handed it over, jokingly asking if it would be done by Christmas.

I remember feeling bad as he looked a little hurt at such an outlandish concept..

(I dug out the receipt and checked - you know I have no memory.)

No matter, it will probably be done soon enough.

Or maybe I should just get it back and sort it out meself, always an option.

With the Jookies fleeing the coop, it was nice to add my 10% to the Tickled Pink thingimabob, which means I am now in with a good chance of winning the T Shirt.

Most odd.

Still, early days indeedy though, if you fancy making a wee donation Here.. It would be better if I didn't keep the T Shirt. Stewards enquiries and all.

As for getting on with stuff, I'm hoping the neck for The Resurrected One will arrive today so that I can get that nailed on and twanging. It is truly a verily beautiful looking guitar.

I'm a little perplexed by that and worried that, like The B Movie One before, it will be too pretty to survive.

It is the way of the world sometimes.

We crush the most alluring of blossom.

But there we are, back to my packaging.

Just Liking That

Well, birthday parties and piles of discarded wrapping bobbins are over for a while, so it is back to awaiting the postie and her magical sack, in which all my parts seem to have disappeared.

Blip.

Just like that.

It is in truth going to be a sparse kinda time over the next fortnight for one reason or another, but I do seem to have somehow acquired a  Tokai Les Paul to fill the gap the Gordo has left (which makes no sense whatsoever Chris, I realise that.) But when that will arrive, I haven't got a clue or even two.

I am planning one or two little wrinkles though over the next few days, as I think I'm going to start The Hartlepool One, even though finishing it probably won't be for a fair old while.

In the end I am going to remain true to my indecision and do two bodies, one a Teardrop based shizzle and the other a Ricky 620 inspired shazzle. If I can't find a way of swapping them mid-song, they may even end-up as two different guitars, if they end-up as any kinda guitar at all. So it will perhaps be Hartlepool and Grimsby, or maybe Stirchley.

Long overdue, your Stirchley, methinks. Though how to capture essence d'Charidee-Shop, d'Balti and d'Brothel, I'm really not sure.

As for the Lightning Dragon, we need to sort out a gold lightning bolt, some red polka dots and a picture of a dragon from somewhere, which could be fun. Must remember to get some water slide paper.

Other than that, I'm going to break a habitual life and do a little recording of The Fabulous One, as to be honest I am loving the tone of it. So I'll apologise for that in advance, but if you a guitar player it will no doubt make you feel good about yourself. Even if the opposite is true of me.

But anyway...batteries to fit, broken toys to take back to shops and outlaws to feed. It's a Rock 'n' Roll life in Jookyville.

Re-Introducing: The Fabulous One, All Over Again

Well, OMFG I have to say that The Fabulous One, with it's new neck and lovely manly tremolo is a bit of a revelation.

Don't get me wrong, I loved it's first incarnation, but with the lump of iron nailed on, it has more sustain and a zingier tone all around.

The neck is a lovely shape-in-the-hand too and has a working truss rod, which you have to think of as a good thing.

The strings seem 'firmer' too, which works for me as well, and the roller bar on the trem gets the best out of the bridge, which is a nice bonus.

I really wish I'd recorded a before and after kinda thingy, but you're perhaps glad I didn't, but I'm well impressed and not a little relieved.

I've got a new guitar to play again, lovin' it, lovin' it and generally, well, lovin' it.

Which is good as there isn't a lot else to report.

We've got to the usual waiting-for-parts sitch as far as The Lightning Dragon goes, and there is no immediate chance of routing The Fallen One or doing anything else much that involves cutting stuff up into chunks.

So there we are, I'd given up hope of finishing The Fabulous One, but you never can tell.

So maybe, a bit of a strummy afternoon, after all...time to dust off those Smiths' licks (OK, Smiths' lick) and Byrds and Beatles tricks.

Sold: The Fabulous One

Back in the olden days, Fender built a series of semi-acoustic guitars called The Coronado. It was idiosyncratic to say the least, it gave feedback at even the lowest levels and tastefilled styling seemed a thing of the past. They were lovely.

Fast-forward many years, and here in Jookyland we think it is time for a revival, but obviously with a few twists of our own.

The Fabulous One has a name to live up to and man does it. The body is pure Coronado apart from the thought-filled addition of a centre block to tamp down that feedback. It has been finished on the top with our home brew acid concoction being applied lovingly to a copper finish. This gives a beautifully 3D effect that will appeal to the whole family and doesn’t need silly glasses.

The back has a different corrosion, with again acid being brushed onto metallic paint, with bronze being the one to get tatty on it.

Around the edges is a quite messy paisley ‘faux binding’ that sets it all off.

As for the pickup, well Mojo Pickups have wound a prototype based on something toaster-like that captures all the jingo jangle you’d hope for and so much more.

Other than that it has a Ye Olde Horshoe Tremolo for all those Bigsby-esque shimmers and warbles, a pressed metal bridge – lovely and Dano-esque – Grover tuners and a top notch Mojo wiring loom.

All together this is a complete attention grabber to look at and a slice of something truly Fab when you play it.

*

To be clear, The Fabulous One is an utterly unique guitar, and there will never, ever, be another made. It is signed and numbered, entirely hand built and finished cooler than the road to the Wirrall. There will genuinely never be another guitar like this and past experience suggests that it won’t be around for long.

Today This Could Be Fabulous Yet Again

Well, I'd just about decided to keep the trapeze tailpiece on The Fabulous One, so I re-fitted it, put the strap pin back on, dropped a couple of E strings on, got everything lined-up neat and tidy and was generally feeling quite happy with myself, when ...typically...
the horseshoe of a trem arrived.

So, as I really do quite fancy using it, today I will be attempting to unpick all of the above and fitting it.

Now, I've never set one of these things up, and I have never even changed a string on a Bigsby so this could be fun with a lower case ferr.

And with the next couple of weeks going into holibob-OD I'm verily conscious that today is the day this has to be done if I am to be in with a hope of getting to play the thing anytime soonish.

So that's the plan, for what it is worth- Gammon.

On the road again...

Bye Bye Old E...
Well, The Old E One is travelling south to it's new home, so once again I'm Jookyless, and feeling inspired to get my act together.

Although, of course, I've fitted the new maple neck on The Fabulous One and just need to get that set up and fettled and see how it looks. I decided in the end to go for the Horseshoe tremolo, so I've removed the tailpiece and moved the Strap pin back into the middle, which feels better as far as my little-known-OCD goes.

Obviously I gave it a bash with  a hammer for good form too. You can't get too carried away about it all, of course. So once the trem arrives, it will be pukka and sorted. Lovely.

Hopefully that will be finished this week, which is nice.

Other than that, I've sourced all the bits 'n' bobs for The Betty Blue One, so it is just a case of waiting for them to show up and I still need to grow-a-pair and rout the neck of The Fallen One as that is pretty much ready to go otherwise too.

So basically, it is the same as last week, with one less guitar to trip over and a few more parts to wait for.

Getting Fab All Over Again

Well, a bit of Morning Glory saw The Fabulous One, get a new neck fitted, with the original Grover tuners (nice rusty screws in place - check) and raring to go.

Hopefully the posty will bring me a boxload of new strings and I can get it proper fettled and play the thing all over again.

I'm glad we've ended-up with a maple boarded neck, it was originally meant to be that way but naturally I dithered and changed my mind a few times on the way.

Better still it is straight. (It's the little things in life that make me smile, like Oompa Lumpas and Ronnie Corbett.)

As for the remains of the day, it'll be over to the Dragon's Den for a bit of Hi-Vizzy yellow on the Lighting Dragon.

Masks and goggles have been arranged as have surgical gloves and Dad's old T Shirts - so they will be fully protected from the nasty niffs.

I still haven't organised the pickup I'm going to be using, but all the other bits 'n' bobbins should be here soon enough, so that isn't top of my list right now.

But there we be..ending the week with a flourish, I like that

Another Day, Another Neck

Well, not a lot done again today, apart from picking the paint for my lasses Lightning Dragon - High visibility yellow, naturally. Nothing understated around here.

I did get the new neck for The Fabulous One though, and it is quite lovely.

I went for a Maple/Maple job this time and the finish is lovely and smooth, like silk it is. I'm really going to have to put that right.

So the old neck is off and I'll swap the Grover tuners across tomorrow. It is slightly wide for the neck pocket, but better that way than too loose. I'd forgotten how much fun this guitar is, that Toaster pickup from Mojo is stunningly cool sounding..

I am still in two minds whether to replace the tailpiece with a horseshoe tremolo or not. The tin bridge takes a bit of care at the best of times so I'm wondering whether the trem would be a step too far or not. Maybe I'll just get the neck on tomorrow and see how it is with the tailpiece and go from there.

Blimey that almost felt grown-up and proper organised and methodical-like.

Raymond-A-Go-Go

Well, I decided that I'd like The Raspberry Ripple One to go to a new home, and the long-and-short of it is that it is off to a young lad in the North West, which is pretty cool. I would have been quite happy playing it every day, but them rules are there for a reason, and I figured somebody was telling me something about that wee guitar so it is off to a new home in the frozen north. It's a zen-thing..

I also opened the case of The Fabulous One, and I don't quite understand it but the neck is pretty twisted. I've never seen one like it before, though when I twisted the truss rod it sounded like a bag of spanners, which might explain something. Even so, it looks most bizarre, I've never seen that happen before.. You live, you learn.

Anyway, as somebody else is obviously also telling me something about this one too, I've decided I'm going to replace the neck. I am also thinking about putting an old school horseshoe trem on while I'm at it, but we'll have to see how it goes. Nice to play it again though, even if the low E is 3cm off the 'board now.

The Raymond One is also off on it's travels, so this is going to be a week of courier hell again, but there we be. So The Ronin, Raymond and Raspberry Ripple Ones all need to be sent, I'm not sure I can cross that many fingers at the same time.

As for The Fallen One, well I think something special is going to be happening with this beaut, so I need to get my act together and sort it out, pronto, Tonto. Which means routing and staining and waxing and well, everything elseing.

Busy times, these holidays be.

La la laaa

That Was The Week That Might Be, Possibly

Home again, or
Well, another week in Jookyland and after last week's histrionical deliverance, I hate to say it, but I think this week will be a little less productive. I know, it will probably be difficultish spotting the difference.

What I do want to sort out this week are the parts for The Lightning Dragon, I've organised most of them, but just a couple of bits left to do. It is going to be a single pickup Strat and I'm thinking I should probably be thankful in the future for a very-low-powered-'bucker. Very, very low. I've learnt my lesson from The Fire Dragon. Maybe even hide the volume pot under the scratchplate so it can be accurately preset. Actually, I like that idea.

Other than that, it is waiting for parts and hopefully sharing a few tender moments with my chisel and handsaw.

Couriers are coming into it too - The Ronin One is off to America, and I should find a new home for The Raspberry Ripple One this morning, which is good. When I get back, I've also got to unwrap The Fabulous One and see what went wrong with the neck and bridge there. All a bit annoying but there we be.

So to do:

1. Couriers
2. Lightning Dragon
3. The Fabulous One
4. Routing
5. Parts

Not exactly your specific, measurable, accurate, relevant, time-bound objective there, but then again I'm not that smart at the best of times.

But anyway...

Everything is Broken

You Smasha My Guitar
I Smasha Your Face
Well, not the best of times in Jookyland, I have to admit. First of all a courier manages to break the neck of my Raspberry Ripple One, despite hardcases and everything else - and I know what you are going to say about SGs and headstocks, but even so.

But then something definitely more Fenderish is my lovely La Cabronita - The B Movie One - which must have had a bit of a stomping as the top has cracked-in-transit and the volume pot has been half-buried into the body. I'm not even sure how you manage to do that while it is in a hardcase and a box.

I've got this mental image of some geezer in Totectors jumping off a pallet in a warehouse somewhere and seeing if he can manage to land buried up to his knees in well waxed Jooky.

And then The Fabulous One is coming back with a not-so-fab problem with it's neck.

*sigh*

So all in all, not verily happy about it all.

There, spleen vented. More insurance claims to enjoy.

Call me Mr Paranoid, but I am starting to think that it is personal.

Anyway, on the plus side of this mis-balanced sheet, I am rather pleased with the third coming of The Raspberry Ripple One as I've strung it up and it still plays and sounds lovely. I am however, beginning to think that maybe I shouldn't let my little Jookies out to play anymore, it's a lot safer here with me. Which let's face it, is slightly worrying.

As for other bobbins, the Jazzmaster trem-thing arrived for The Fallen One, as did some strap pins, a neck plate and some other bits I don't remember ordering. I already have a Mustang bridge, so somehow that means I am only in need of pickups and wiring, which Mr Mojo is going to sort out.

So basically, I need to make the neck pocket a tad deeper and deepen the pickup routs too as they are a tad on the light side. Oh and do the finish and put it all together.

None of which sounds horrendous if I say it quick.

What else? Well, I can get on with The Ronin One at last, which is nice, and I'm already thinking about re-working The Fabulous One with a Bigsby and a new neck if that is what it needs.

And, and...sometimes this all gets a bit complicated and I feel quite tired.

Yours, feeling slightly sorry for myself, a little tattered and torn - sparrow-like,

Rainy Afternoon in Jookyland

Moody fotography
or did I lose my spex?
You decide..

Well, today is a bit of a non-runner, so I guess I'll just have to have a little Fabulous time, which is a hardship but I should take opportunities when they come.

I am rather loving my pretty wee jangle-monster though, it has to be said.

Other than that, a few parts showed-up, so The B Movie One now has it's neck attached, a bridge and groovy bullet ferrules around the back for consistently cool string passageness.

They haven't fallen out yet either, I must have ordered the right size after all.

So that and The JoBo One are pretty much there apart from pickups and wiring, which is cool.

So all in all, at the end of the week I've done everything I could really, so I feel settled now, and might have to go on a router hunt.

Anyway, guitars to strum etc.

Introducing: The Fabulous One

Well, I'd like to introduce you to my latest trick, a little guitar I've grown to know and love as The Fabulous One.

From the top, it is a semi-acoustic (though thankfully with a feedback busting centre block hidden beneath), and it is quite clearly based upon the Fender Coronado I, though with a few Jookerific twists to make it my own.

The body is made from alder with an ash block in the middle, and it has been joined in holy matrimonial goodness with a Strat neck - maple and rosewood for the fact fans out there.

The finish is multi-dimensional, with the back and sides being given a beautifully blue corroded bronze finish, while the top has a greeny corroded copper. To set it off a little more, there is an Ersatz binding of red paisley, which looks lovely and messy and cool all at once as it wiggles it's way around.

Pickup-wise, there is another one-off, handwound by Marc Ransley at Mojo Pickups, and with all due nods to any company's who's name begins with "R" and ends with "ickenbacker", it is a version of something famously toaster-like. I have to say it looks great sat there all proud and West Coastish.

Other bits are a nice trapeze tailpiece with a quite Danelectro-esque metal bridge which only adds to the jangle. Tuners are Grovers and of course are rock solid and smooth of twirl.

Playing the guitar acoustically, there is definitely a nice bright jangle about it - almost a touch resonator like, which is probably down to the bridge and I have to say it does sound Dano-like, in a good way.

Plugging it in shows the pickup does a whole lot more than Smiths impressions, and whilst Beatles, Byrds and yes Mr Marr can be found without trouble it is really easy to get a touch bluesy with it too. Marc supplied another of hiis excellent wiring looms for this too, and using good pots makes a world of difference. Just volume in this case but with a nice responsive amp it adds plenty to the option list.

In a way I'd be disappointed if this was just seen as a Jangle monster as The Fabulous One really does have a lot more to offer. With a bit of distortion it sounds massive and overdriven it is reet sweet.

So there we are. I didn't even need to dig out the  SpongeBob plasters as a couple of pipe cleaners meant the wiring went in without any hassle at all.

The Fabulous One, in summary, cool as Ray Bans in a niteclub.

Like A Bridge Over Still Waters

Well, today was a bit of a no-progress-due-to-real-life sort of day, which isn't awful in the granda-schema-maxima, but is kinda frustrating nonetheless..

Nice things that did happen were that the bridges I ordered for The Fabulous One arrived and whilst one was far too big and chunky of girth, the other was just about perfect. It is beautifully retro tinny looking too which is quite a bonus in itself.

I will need to adjust the string slot bits a little and maybe tweak the angle of the neck, but with it in-situ my two strings actually play with a half decent action, so that is cool. Hopefully I'll get the rest of it done this week as it would be nice to give it a blarrrst.

As for all the other bits 'n' bobs, well none of them arrived, so I don't have to feel guilty about ignoring them too.

One bonus with the Fab's bridge, is that it is the perfect size for The Ronin One (I think I said the ones I've tried haven't been great and I hadn't been able to find one to fit that was better. Until now.)

Obviously this is cool-in-excelsis, and so I shot off to Allparts' web site to order another, but it was out of stock. Starting to think that my little Marauder should have been call The Cursed One.

Heh ho.

At least I know it is possible, if not probable now.

So really, I'm looking at tomorrow now. I can put The Fabulous One back together again, and then spend Friday fixing whatever I mess up. That's no bad, I can live with that.

Slow News Day

Well, I fixed the tailpiece on The Fabulous One so that err, lines-up nicely now. Always a bonus.

I've also decided that the bridge is a wee bit high for comfort, so I've ordered a couple of replacements and hopefully one of them will prove to be better. I'm expecting the action to still be a tad high, so I'm going to have to give the neck a bit of love and we'll go from there.

One for the morrow now though, along with the soldering as I never quite got that far in the end.

As for other things, I'm not sure if said, but Marc from Mojoland, is winding me a couple of his special pickups for The B Movie One La Cabronita thingy. These will be TV Jones shaped, but in reality be a pair of his P90s, which sounds an even better bet to me.

Other than that, all of the other parts for this cutey should be here tomorrow, which is pretty cool, especially as the neck fits perfectly and I had run out of neck plates and screws, so it is a bit floppy right now.

Must remember to...

Staring Me In The Face

Well, I don't claim any great level of expertise in anything at all really, but sometimes I have this kind of Zen state where I can immediately look at a guitar and know - feel if you like - that something maybe isn't quite right.

Why do I mention it? Well, I thought I'd put a couple of strings onto The Fabulous One and see whether the bridge is a little too high - it is niggling me somewhat - and I don't know why, but I just got this feeling.

Maybe it was the low E string being somewhere in the middle of things, or maybe it was the high E floating in mid-air off the side of the neck, I probably won't ever really know for sure, but instinct kicked in and after a bit of investigative work, I found that I was right.

I'd put the tailpiece in the wrong place.

Oh, how I laughed.

I even know how I managed it - being organised (ahem) I had drilled a hole for the strap pin a way away from the ones for the trapeze, and then obviously I used that for the tailpiece instead.

So no great harm done.

As for the bridge, well the action was OK and I could maybe adjust the neck angle to improve it further, but I've ordered a couple of different - shallower - bridge mounts instead as I think it would be at it's limits, as it were.

As for today, well the new neck and tuners arrived for The B Movie One, so I'll probably drill and fit that later if I haven't run out of screws and neckplates (which is possible) and I really should get my finger out and install the Mojo Toaster in The Fabulous One, oh and maybe move the tailpiece a tad to the right. Might be a handy thing to do.

WIP: The Fabulous and B Movie Ones

Don't Leave Your Records
In The Oven Mrs Worthington
Well, I know a lot of peeps read this blog and worry that my slick approach to making my Jooky babies raises the bar so high that it really isn't worth trying themselves. And I can understand that and sympathise. I realise how lucky I am to have been born with such a gift, and believe me when I say it brings it's own pressures.

So I thought I should show you that yes, even I can make life hard for myself and if not quite show myself to be fallible, well, perhaps hint at a teeny weeny chink in the old armour.

So when I say I may have left a record a little long in the oven while making a scratchplate for The B  Movie One, I hope that makes life, if not quite worthy of living, then perhaps a touch more endurably bearable.

Though, who hasn't wanted to do that to Brothers In Arms and Rumours?

Anyway, The B Movie One now boasts a nice vinyl pickguard, and I'm rather pleased to say that the paisley binding of The Fabulous One is done too - lacquer drying as I type.

I tussled with myself over this as to be honest it looked very nice thank-you-very-much without it, but I thought it might add a little something and it will be easy to remove if I don't like it. Well, maybe.

Obviously I could have gone for perfectly perpendicularly aligned smooth lines, but instead I went more windy and wyndy. It would have looked silly otherwise.

And as the thievin basket posty showed-up, The Fabulous One is now neck attached and has a lovely tailpiece and bridge (which looks a little high to me, but we'll see later on like). Tis looking good

As for chopping wood, well I had another fight with my router and to be totally honest I just about convinced myself that it is blinkin' impossible, the router bucks like a, err, bronco, and the bit seems to slide up and down at random and generally having to hold it one handed while I turn the power on as the on-off switch doesn't work is a tad tiresome too.

So in a fit of fed-up-ness, I borrowed a different router from the chap up the road, and which was loads easier and actually, well, cut the bits of wood I wanted. So for once, bad workman though I may be, I think I can safely say that this tool is garbage and I am justified in blaming all of my woes on the little £$%^&*(.

There, got that off my chest. So now I need a new router. Do not pass go, do not spend anywhere near £200 as you are brassic as per.

So in summary, don't feel inadequate in Jookyland, there really is no need whatso, and with a bit of luck I might be getting some strings onto The Fabulous One tomorrow, assuming that the pot and socket go thru the F-hole still, now that I've covered it with gubbins.

The B Movie One Gets
A Record Breaking Pickguard Thing

Ooh, Looks At Those Grooves
(OK, Only One And It Is A Spiral, But...)

Paisley Bound Fabulous

Now With Bridge and Tailpiece, Blimey

O Mother, I Can Hear...

The Fabulous One
If I Only Had A Tailpiece
And a Bridge
And Was Wired-Up
Well, another week in paradise regained without the Rooney-esque barnetry benefits, unfortunately.

As to what gets done this week, well in truth it depends on what shows up in the post.

Young Marc of Mojo fame is whirring his winder and producing all sorts of bobbins and general loominess.

There are necks and tailpieces, strap pins and bridges and all sorts of other stuff in degrading orbits too, and who knows what will crashland next.

As for things to make and do, well as far as the three-most-likely-to-be-finished go, there isn't actually that much.

1. The Fabulous One:

The lacquer is dry so I just need to sort out the ersatz binding and then put it all together once the tailpiece and bridge arrive. Sounds easy, hmmm.

2. The JoBo One:

That is waiting for a pickup and wiring loom and that be that.

3. The B Movie One:

That is waiting for, well, everything. Though I need to craft a scratchplate, which I can be doing, like.

So today then is binding the Fabulous and scratchplating the B Movie, which shouldn't take long, and then the race is on for the rest.

Hopes, dreams and expectations?

Well, I would like to finish one of them this week, but I don't really know which. The Fabulous One is probably the most likely, but who can really guess at such quicksilvery slivers in the corner of your mind's eye?

Other than all of that, I'm going to go ferrit on The Pearly Dewdrop One and get some wood chopped.

Didn't I say that weeks ago?

Probably.

And there we are....

Fun fun fun

Quiet Days Am These

Well, a day away from Jookyland, but still I managed to sort out some pickups thanks to the ever resourceful Mr Mojo - he is going to be winding me something groovy and TV Jonesish (I really should say Gretschish ) of shape especially for The B Movie One. All of which means I'll no doubt finish that last-minute-distraction before all of the others, but such is life.

Can't wait to see what he comes up with.

Elsewhere, the lacquer is dry on The Fabulous One, so I'm assuming that with parts arriving early this week I might actually get that put together soonerish. The JoBo One too now I think about it.

All of which is timely as much as I while lurve my Jazzmaster, I do like grazing across a selection of guitars and having knackered the Gordo I'm limited of option and general graze potential.

Speaking of my Gordo, I still haven't worked out what pickups to put in it. I might just go for a PAF and a P90 again, though that is a bit of a cop out as I'd be back to where I started, so I should probably try something else. Maybe, err, dunno.

Today though, in between the usual weekend bobbins, I shall be masterplanning my initial Jooky - Haut D'Jook - T Shirt. There truly is no beginning to my talents.

Fabulously B Movie-ish

Stained Ash. Shocking In It's Simple-ness
Well, the lacquer is dry on the back of The Fabulous One, and I noticed I'd 'nicked' the front so I have filled that and sanded it back. I almost feel like I know what I'm doing at times.

Anyway, once that was done I gave it a couple of coats of copper on top, and then got creative with the House Home Brew Concoction. Hopefully, that will be dry and get lacquered over the weekend and be ready for it's nuptials next week.

With nowt else to do then, I thought I'd do something a little different today and instead stained and then sanded back the Swampy Ash Tele body I mentioned. The B Movie One, as it will forever now be known.

In a shocking turn of events, I'm going to go for a (shhh - don't tell anybody) pretty plain finish - wax, and then do something more Jookified around the edges.

I'm really not sure what I'm thinking of - far too simple for one such as I - but there we are. Jookies, also available in beige, before you know it. Quite worrying, in truth.

Corroded Copper - Bit Trickier, I Must Say
I have to say, I've never done this before, and scared myself to death when I put the black stain on and it looked like a puddle of Cherry Blossum, but once it had dried and been sanded back it looked rather nifty. A couple more goes with an 'Oak' flavoured stain and I was happy enough and so I've moved on to a nice wax finish. I did ponder going for a hard wax oil, but really I want this to be a bit of a soft-sheen experience, although it'll have a few 'touches' around the edges, I'm sure.

Obviously, I'm getting in touch with a previously unknown subtle side and I'm not a little shocked, it has to be declared, but it is good not to be predictable, don't you think?

As I haven't actually got any other parts for this one at all, it might be a while before I mention it again, of course, but there we are.
